Schemes 
          During the  year 2008-09, it is proposed to implement the developmental schemes such as  Part-II, Western Ghats Development Programme, Hill Area Development Programme  and Catalytic Development Programme with matching grant from the Central Silk  Board. 
        
        
            
              - For planting high yielding mulberry varieties.
 
              - Provision of training to farmers in silkworm rearing.
 
              - For installing drip irrigation system in mulberry garden.
 
              - For the construction of separate silkworm rearing house.
 
              - For the procurement of improved silkworm rearing equipments.
 
              - For the establishment of chawkie rearing centres.
 
              - For the distribution of quality disinfectants.
 
              - For the establishment of silk reeling units in different  levels.
 
             
         
   
        During the year  2008-09, it is proposed to implement the developmental schemes such as Part-II,  Western Ghats Development Programme, Hill Area Development Programme and  Catalytic Development Programme with matching grant from the Central Silk  Board.  
          During  the current year (2008-09) scheme assistance of Rs.1500.00 lakhs, has been  proposed to benefit 9518 farmers under various schemes.  
        Catalytic  Development Programme  
  For development of Sericulture and Silk industry, Central  Silk Board supports different activities of the State under Catalytic  Development Programme.  Financial assistance is provided for planting high  yield mulberry varieties, installation of drip irrigation system, construction  of separate rearing houses, procurement of improved rearing equipments,  establishing chawkie rearing centres, supply of quality disinfectants etc,. The  matching share will be provided by CSB as subsidy.  
        During 2007-2008, a sum of Rs.876.87 lakhs was  sanctioned by both Central Silk Board and State as subsidy for the  implementation of installation of drip irrigation system, construction of  separate rearing houses, procurement of rearing equipments , farmers training  programme and establishment of chawkie rearing centres and establishment of  silk reeling in the State        
         
        Eligibility of Farmers :  
          For  availing scheme assistance, 
          a)  The farmers have to  plant high yielding mulberry varieties in minimum 1 acre. 
          b)  The farmers have to  rear bivoltine silkworm races. 
          c)  Farmers who have own  land, have an assured source of water, and experience in silkworm rearing. 
        d)  Application in  prescribed format to be submitted through departmental staff of the technical  service centre, servicing in the concerned jurisdiction.

         *Farmers  are eligible to procure disinfectants at 50% cost to rear 750 DFLs/annum.  
        The above said all schemes will be implemented after the  approval and receipt of funds from CSB and as well as from TamilNadu State  Government.
        Governmnet have sanctioned a sum of Rs.119.40 lakhs for the  implementation of various sericulture activities under SDPSF for the year  2008-09 vide  
         
          Western Ghats Development Programme:  
      Government  have sanctioned a sum of Rs.20.25 lakhs as subsidy assistance for the  implementation of Sericulture schemes in Coimbatore and Dindigul districts  under Western Ghats Development Programme for the year 2008-2009
